Never just A S S U M E Silverstar rolled in her nest. An uncomfortable vibe had been jolting through the leader since dawn. She was worried because MistClan's streams has dried up, rendering the camp unprotected and unsafe. Hunting was also harder, the mist that hid them was gone, the streams that filled their thirst was gone. This was also happening to the other clans, they were too, having trouble. She popped her eyes open and padded out into the clearing. The she-cat knew that most of the clans were asleep, it be a little fun if someone would come and maybe talk, even a kit. Anybody was fine. Silverstar gazed up at the skies, praying for StarClan. StarClan hasn't been communicating with her or the Medicine Cat recently, that was what worried her so much. Was the stream that dried up an omen? Silverstar sure hoped not, "What has StarClan planned upon us?" The leader said dryly.

Silverstorm walked into the camp. She held a squirrel in between her jaws. Slowly, she padded over to the fresh kill pile and dropped her prey. She sighed and turned, overhearing Silverstar's words. "You haven't heard anything from Starclan, have you?" she asked, walking over. It was obvious the clan was weakening from dehydration. Her usual glossy pelt was losing its gleam and her eyes were dull.

Never just A S S U M E
The-she cat looked back, then turned her head up to the Silverpelt. The Silverpelt was dim, far, far away like StarClan was leaving them... No! StarClan would never leave! They protected them. At least from the past it was. Now Silverstar was not so sure anymore. The she-cat sighed dryly, "No Silverstorm, I have not. StarClan has left us for some time." She closed her eyes, StarClan was ever so important to her, it was like losing family, the pain would never ebb away until they came back, or at least told them that they were okay. Now that feeling was stuck like a rock in her stomach. Her heart was strong of course, but maybe, just maybe, the pain would go away soon. The prickling feeling that stabbed her mind ever so slightly got shooed away. Just talking to someone made even a small difference. Word-Count::148 Muse::Good-bad Charry::Silverstar

"What will we do? We can't keep continuing like this, we're getting weaker, what if another clan attacks?" Silverstorm asked, sitting down. She was mainly worried about the kits, queens, and elders. They were the ones that needed taking care of. She looked around the camp, noticing the kits playing while their mothers talked in hush voices. She could see the elders, shoeing away an apprentice. They were obviously in a bad mood.

Never just A S S U M E Silverstar kept her eyes closed, she was thinking, for several minutes. Nothing, nothing came to her mind. Even when she asked StarClan. They never answered. Finally, when even Silverstar thought she might be dreaming, the she-cat just responded hoarsely, "We do what is expected, we pray for StarClan. Someday, maybe even soon, StarClan will respond, even if we have to starve ourselves." Her own answer even surprised herself. Still, Silverstar went on anyway, "but still, we must keep our queen, kits, and elders well-fed. If we don't, the clan will fall." Harsh words maybe, but it was in answer. If Silverstar would even starve herself for her own clan, she'd do it. Nothing was worse than warriors who didn't care for their clan. Nothing. Even if the she-cat herself was the leader, leaders were still warriors, weren't they? Her usually brilliant eyes were dull, the long coat that fed from the rich fish from the stream was faded and slightly clumped together. It had shown effects already, Silverstar was hungry and thirsty. Blood from prey was enough, not as Silverstar wanted to, but surely, it was enough for the leader. Silverstorm nodded. "You know I would do anything to keep them fed and healthy," she stated, looking at her leader. "You need to be fed, too though," she added, wrapping her tail around her paws. She looked tired, although it didn't look like she was going to go to sleep anytime soon.

A smile started to etch upon Silverstar's once grim face, "You have never failed me Silverstorm, I thank-you for that, but the clan needs everything else more than me." She quickly turned around to face Silverstorm, "They need it." She spoke grimly. Silverstar was tired, though she could not sleep. She'd expect that she would fall cold just any minute from lack of sleep. It had already happened once before she turned into a leader, "I suppose you do more than I do" Silverstar said quietly, she pointed at the she-cat's gleamless pelt, and looked into her dull eyes. Silverstorm gave her leader a small, but encouraging smile. "That's what you think. The whole clan looks up to you for help and everyone looks up to Starclan. Starclan isn't answering, so its up to you to help us. Its a tough situation and you're the only cat I know that can handle it," she mewed, before standing up. Her tail hung low, but she kept the small smile on her face. "This clan needs you more than ever, Silverstar," she added.

A small chuckle rose from Silverstar's mouth, "Well nobody ever told me that. Thank-you, you've made my day, I think you've helped me and this clan both for these past few moons. Now that I know that, I think I need to tell you something," Silverstar looked around, to make sure nobody is listening, "Look, soon, I will be going on a journey to the crystal caves to meet Lightstar and Soulstar there. We will try to communicate with StarClan. It will probably take a few suns, and while I'm there, I want you to take charge. I don't think our deputy will be up for the job-yet." The she-cat stood up, giving a soft gaze. She knew that if Silverstorm wouldn't take it, Greyheart surely would. He was very courageous, he had potential, and so did Silverstorm. But still, both cats have never failed her since she had became leader. Word Count::160 Muse::Good Charry::Silverstar

Silverstorm looked a bit shocked. "You're leaving me in charge? Of the clan? I don't know, Silverstar," she mewed, uncertainly. Her mew was hushed so no one else could hear. She looked into her leader's eyes and saw warmth and trust in them. Silverstorm smiled and gave a small nod. "Okay, I'll do my best," she added, bowing her head.

Greyheart padded out of the warriors den. He could spot a few cats coming and leaving the camp but two in particular caught his eyes. Silverstorm and Silverstar were talking. Curious he padded up to them. "Good morning Silverstar, Silverstorm." He said joyfully. He arched his back in a stretch. "Why are you two up so early?" He sat down on the cold earth. a sudden pain in his paw made him jolt up. looking down he spotted a small ant, a red one at that. He gave his paw a shake, unsheathed his claws, poked the ant to death, and sat back down.

"Thank-you, I trust you with this responsibility. I will soon meet Pineneedle from Moonclan to come for me. Reassure the patrol that the Moonclan scent was probably from a Moonclan cat not seeing the mist and mistaking it for there territory." Silverstar said before Greyheart came up, "Sorry Greyheart, I couldn't sleep. How are you this morning?" Silverstar sat on the cold, hard dirt again. Her eyes giving a small glitter. She was soon going to meet the other clan's leader, Pineneedle would come soon, and Silverstar have to go. Her light green eyes scanned the clearing, not noticing anything out of the ordinary, she returned her gaze back to Greyheart, which seemed to be more awake than she had ever been for moons. Silverstorm gave Greyheart and small smile. "I had gone on the dawn patrol," she stated. She had always liked the tom, but never bothered admitting it, or even showing it. She looked towards the sky, her eyes going a bit distant, as if she was distracted by something. She looked down as she heard a few cats come into the camp. It was another hunting patrol. Four cats and only one vole. The prey was moving, looking for water.

He turned his head to look at Silverstar when he spoke, "Fine thank you." He turned his gaze to Silvermist. it took him a moment before he could say anything. "Uh...Oh was the prey running well?" He couldn't help but stare at Silvermist. She just seemed to always catch his eyes. He blinked and shook his head. He shifted his paws. a fly flew by his ear making it twitch.

Silverstorm looked at Greyheart, and shook her head. "They want water just as much as we do. The prey is leaving our territory in search of it," she said. "But we'll manage. The prey will come back, I'm sure of it. Lets just catch as much as we can for the queens, elders, and kits," she added, giving a small smile to the two cats.
