A medium-sized black and white cat was pacing the camp. He had a small scowl on his face and he looked quite bored. "When am I going to learn some more battle moves? I've already checked the elders' for ticks and changed their bedding," he muttered to himself. His bright blue eyes moved around the camp, wondering if he could train with an apprentice that wasn't busy, but all the ones he saw were. He sighed, and padded to the fresh kill pile, pulling out a squirrel. He turned and brought it next to Highcave. The mouth watering taste of the squirrel filled his mouth as he bit into it.

Lightstar stretched and crawled out from her warm den. A grumble rippled through her belly, and she thought to herself, "I'm hungry." The BoneClan leader stepped through her den entrance and noticed her apprentice, Nightpaw, nearby. He was obviously done with working on the elders, and looked like he needed extra work so... "Nightpaw," Lighstar called out to her apprentice. "I have some plans for you. When your done eating your fresh-kill, please meet me at the entrance to the camp." With a brisk nod, the silver she-cat spun around to walk to the fresh-kill pile, piled high in prey. It smelled great, and Lightstar reached in to grab a large thrush. She had decided that it was time to train Nightpaw. The young tom needed some battle training. Biting into the prey, Lightstar felt the thick juicy meat melt into her mouth, reminding her of how good it tasted. Then she sat up, ready to wash her face.

Nightpaw looked up and nodded when his leader told him what to do. He quickly finished the squirrel. ~What am I doing now?~ he asked himself, sitting next to the entrance. His paws itched to do something as he waited. Looking around the camp, he noticed a butterfly flying around nearby. He turned and, letting his muscles ripple under his pelt, launched himself into the air. The butterfly was just out of his reach. Landing softly on his paws, he turned again and did the same thing. This time his paws had grabbed one of the wings, bringing the butterfly down with him.

((OOC: I am going to move the thread to BoneClan territory because they are going hunting and battle traing. Just wanted to tell you.))
Lightstar sat, tail curled around her flank as she washed herself. She noted that Nightpaw had been sitting for a second, and just as she was about to head over there, a butterfly flew towards him. He jumped towards it, muscles twisting- showing strength. He missed, but tried again. This time, he drug down the butterfly.
He is going to make a great hunter, Lightstar though to herself. So we will hunt before battle training. I won't give him a lesson, I want him to show me what he knows already.
The she-cat walked delicatly towards Nightpaw. "Nightpaw," she meowed. "We are going to be busy today, so I hope that you got a good night's sleep today. We are going to be hunting and battle traing. First, hunting. The Clan needs prey. Then you can choose. Rest or go straight into battle training. Let me know your choice after we hunt."

Nightpaw purred a bit. "Well, lets go. I've been bored all day," he mewed, turning towards the entrance and padding out of the camp. He looked around, listening to the bird's singing. It was a nice day, thank goodness. He looked behind him and once he saw his mentor emerge, he turned back to the forest. He opened his mouth and let the forest scent fill his mouth and nostrils. He padded forward until the scent of thrush came to him. He looked around until he saw the bird.
He lowered himself to a hunter's crouch and slowly began to move towards it. His eyes were locked onto the small animal. Muscles rippling under his pitch black pelt, he launched himself at the bird. Just as the bird flew into the air, his paws came crashing down on it's wings. He cut the thrush's alarm call short as he nipped it on the back of the neck.

Lightstar knelt down beside her apprentice as they stood outside of camp. "That butterfly catch was great, Nightpaw," she purred at her apprentice. "Now, are you ready to hunt? I want to give you a short mission. Bring me back two pieces of prey and I will let you have the biggest prey in the pile tonight. Would you like that? But please, nothing too scrawny. I want them plump and ready to be eaten by a hungry queen or elder." The leader nodded over her shoulder as she picked up a mouse trail. "I will take this, and you bring me back they prey. Then we will discuss battle tactics. Right?"

Nightpaw nodded. "Sounds like a fair deal to me," he mewed, opening his mouth to let the scents of the forest fill it. He got the scent of a vole and began following it. He looked around carefully and spotted the furry brown critter. He slowly got into a hunter's crouch and began sneaking up on it. When he was only a few tail length's away, he leaped, landing on the rodent. He bit down on the back, instantly killing it. He buried it nest to a fallen tree and then tried to scent another. He continued deeper into the forest and then stopped when a new scent hit him. He breathed in deeper, but didn't recognize it. He began following it, being the curious little apprentice he is.
After a few minutes he stopped and heard a bark and suddenly he was knocked over. His pelt bristled as he looked up at the orange furred animal before him. He yowled in shock and terror as it ran at him, easily picking him up by his stomach. Nightpaw's claws unsheathed as he clawed at the fox's face, screeching. He hoped a cat would hear him, even if it was a cat from a different clan. He didn't want to die yet.

Lightstar was scraping the dead gray mouse into the dirt of the ground when she heard the screeching. Her ears went immediatly alert, and her eyes shone with frightened curiosity. The cat jumped from her prey and tackled the plant life around her, frantically searching for a hint of what cat might be in danger... Nightpaw!
The BoneClan leader's instincts rose up and into Silverpelt as she raced toward the sound.
Finding them was easy. The fox wasn't the biggest one she had ever seen, but definatly the best groomed. It had Nightpaw deep in its grasp, shaking its head and not letting go! "Nightpaw, I'm coming!" Lightstar shrieked, jumping toward the fox. It kicked out with its hind legs, knocking her down and stunning her for a short moment. "Oh, fox. Don't mess with me," Lightstar meowed angrily. She jumped again, snagging a claw on his flank, pulling with her claw until the pelt ripped all little and a wound opened on the fox. Not big, but enough to get infected. "Fight, NIghtpaw. Use the little I taught you. Play dead or try to flip."

Nightpaw was frightened and he wasn't paying any attention to Lightstar. He snarled a bit, trying to intimidate the fox. He clawed it in the eye, but that only made it bite down harder. Suddenly, his eyes began to get blurry, but not from losing blood. He noticed he was laying on the ground, his head had hit a root. He stood up slowly and shook his head, trying to clear it. "I'm coming to help you, Lightstar, don't worry," he mewed, leaping at the fox. He landed on it's shoulder and began to scramble up to it's back. He bit down on it's ear, his fur bristling.

While Nightpaw had been sort of out of it, Lighstar couldn't reach her apprentice. The fox had turned, baring its fangs at her and leaning its front paws on her so she was, so to speak, immobile and stuck to the ground. As grateful as the she-cat was to hear Nightpaw up again, she didn't want the young fighting tom to do anything rash. "Oh Nightpaw, be careful!" She cried as Nightpaw leaped up onto the fox.

"I'm the best warrior in the clan, remember? I can beat this dumb old fox with two paws behind my back," Nightpaw mewed, diging his front claws into the fox's neck and his hind claws in its shoulders. His ego was helping to keep him fighting and so was saving his leader's pelt. He bit down harder onto the fox's ear until it backed away from the leader and tried to get Nightpaw off of it.

Lightstar was everly grateful that her apprentice had saved her, but his major wgo was going to get him hurt one of these days... She jumped under the foxes belly and nipped at it until its belly started to bleed too, then went for the legs.

Nightpaw felt his claws slip and he flew off the fox. He landed lightly on his paws and watched as the fox ran off towards Moonclan territory. He began to chase after it, but stopped to look back at Lightstar. He wasn't really sure what to do. "Are you okay?" he asked, walking over to her. He tried to ignore the pain and the only thing that showed he felt it was his eyes.

Lightstar grimaced. "Yeah, just a torn- ow- claw and -ow ow ow, sorry," she grinned stupidly. "And my leg feels twisted." The BoneClan leader held out her paw that had a bit of dried and still wet blood stuck around it. Her claw stuck out at an odd angle. "That's goonna hurt in the morning," she tried to joke. "What about you, Nightpaw?"

"I'm fine," Nightpaw lied, sniffing the claw. He gave a small nod, agreeing with Lightstar. "You should get that checked out by a medicine cat," he added. He looked around, unsure what to do now. He had just told his mentor, let alone his LEADER, to go see the medicine cat.
